Las Vegas Knight Hockey Club

The Las Vegas Knights is a professional hockey team that was founded in 2017 plays in the National Hockey League (NHL). It is based in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The team is a member of the Pacific division of the western conference and played its first season game in the 2017/18 NHL season.

Club History

In 2015 the idea of having an expansion team from Las Vegas was reported by several media outlets which the NHL denied. However, in 2016 there were concrete plans by the association to have an expansion team from Las Vegas whose idea was unanimously voted for during the annual league owners meeting held in the city of Vegas. The club took up the Knights name after the Black Night which was a United States Military based club but was later dropped after the federal government raised some concerns about the game.

Rivalries

Since its inception, the Las Vegas Knights has played many games in the NHL, and over this period the San Jose Shark team has proved to be a significant Las Vegas Knights main rival which may be attributed to the fact that both teams play in the Pacific division of the western conference.

With the Las Vegas Knights hockey team being a newcomer in the NHL, there is hope that the team will bring Las Vegas city to the hockey limelight. The team has greatly progressed over time posting remarkable results off and on the field. With the team currently occupying position three in the Pacific Division, there are hopes that the team will make it to the playoffs in the 2019/20 season.
